1963 Shelby Cobra "slabside" street car
For more than 45 years, this beautifully preserved 1963 Shelby Cobra lived in a temperature and humidity controlled environment in Hawaii, and was driven by the late owner when he visited his second home on the island. With less than 17,000 miles on the odometer, which are believed to be original, this lightly used and lovingly cared for authentic Shelby Cobra has to be one of the most original on the planet.
Unlike many of the Shelby street cars from the 60's, this one has never been modified for the track, and is virtually unmolested. Fenders, door panels, deck lid, hood, etc. have never been modified with flares, and then made original again. You're looking at the car the way Carroll intended. With the exception of one respray and some recent small dent removal (PDR), the body is as original as any you'll find.
Even the original windscreen is still in place!
The tonneau cover, convertible top, side curtains, bows, jack, tool kit, grease gun, etc. go with the car. The chrome spoke wheels were added in the late 60's. The original painted wheels and tires are included in the sale.
Here's an opportunity to own a fully documented, original 289 c. i. Shelby Cobra, fully sorted and ready to show, or enjoy on a weekend cruise. CSX2081 features the original factory installed, 289 c. i. powertrain, including the engine, transmission and differential. The only updates under the hood have been the replacement of the Harrison radiator with a quality replica, and upgrading the generator with an alternator to keep the battery charged while idling - a necessity to power the electric fans. The original generator and radiator are available upon request.
The car is located in the Los Angeles, CA area and available for a pre-purchase inspection, with some advance notice. Email Mark@DynamicMotorsports.com for more pics and information, or call 888-SHELBYGT, ext 1.
